EU Commission Criticises Hungary for Planned NGO Law
The EU Commission wants to take action against Hungary if the government, led by Viktor Orban, adheres to a law that restricts non-governmental organisations. Plans provide that civil organisations will have to fear reprisals similar to those in Russia in the future. The current draft law, which Orbans Fidesz Party had introduced into parliament, represents a serious violation of EU law, the EU Commission informed on request.
