On January 7, 1945, Red Army soldiers and Polish Army soldiers entered the left-bank part of Warsaw. The city, which was bustling with life just a few years ago, looked like an ocean of ruins. Before the war, the capital had a population of almost 1.3 million. Six years later, around 20,000 people survived on the outskirts of left-bank Warsaw. This is what the reconstruction of the capital looked like.
