Mexico City.- Morena and allies in the Senate endorsed by a majority of votes the ruling that the Anti-Corruption and Good Government Secretariat will absorb most of the powers of the late INAI, thus remaining in charge of the administration of the principle of transparency.

The plenary of the Senate passed by 71 votes of Morena, PVEM and PT, and 21 of the PAN, PRI and MC against the decree issuing the General Law on Transparency and Access to Public Information, the General Law on the Protection of Personal Data in Possession of Obligated Subjects and the Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data in Possession of Individuals, and amends the Organic Law of the Federal Public Administration.

With 71 votes in favour and 21 against, the Senate approved the reform that eliminates the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI) and transfers its powers to the Anti-Corruption and Good Government Secretariat.
