- On May 14, 2025, Cariflex Pte. Ltd. Officially opened its newly constructed polyisoprene latex manufacturing facility at Jurong Island, Singapore, establishing the largest plant of its type worldwide.
- The plant, costing US$355 million and spanning 6.1 hectares, began construction in 2022 and started operations in November 2024 to meet growing synthetic latex demand.
- Supported by Singapore’s EDB and JTC, the facility serves Southeast Asia’s medical and protective markets, doubling Cariflex’s 2023 production capacity upon full ramp-up.
- CEO Ryu Sang Woo highlighted that establishing the new facility in Singapore was a deliberate decision to be close to their main customers, taking advantage of the city-state’s talented workforce and robust intellectual property protections.
- The plant created about 80 permanent jobs, mostly filled by Singaporeans, and aligns with Cariflex’s long-term talent development and Singapore’s push for innovation-driven industries.
