Classical music review: VSO offers sophisticated delights with launch of Modum

Under the baton of guest conductor David Eric Robertson, who is Director of Conducting Studies at New York’s Juilliard School, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra offered a program of sophisticated delights this weekend at the Orpheum. The Friday-Saturday evening program was anchored by two major compositions: John Adams’ new-ish piano concerto and a too rarely programmed masterwork, Carl Nielson’s Fourth Symphony (The Inextinguishable).
