County nears compromise on 2025-26 budget

As the Board of Supervisors inches toward a compromise budget plan — to be adopted at a meeting at the courthouse May 15 — there is longer-term pressure gathering to break free of the county’s deep dependency on taxing land to pay for education and other priority services.
