Inclement weather forces postponement of 13 District 3 track and field events until Saturday

SHIPPENSBURG – Inclement weather plagued the first day of the District 3 Track and Field Championship at Shippensburg University’s Seth Grove Stadium with two rounds of thunderstorms forcing lengthy delays until officials eventually suspended events until Saturday.

Kutztown junior Clara Engel won the girls triple in Class 2A today in dramatic fashion at the District 3 Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University. Going into the last round of jumps, Engel was tied for fourth place at 34-5½. On her sixth jump she bettered that mark by almost three feet, leaping 37-3½ to take the lead.
