Police close Ontario city’s main park due to unruly crowds

After large crowds had gathered and multiple calls for trouble, Waterloo Regional Police say they were forced to close Kitchener’s main park on Canada Day.

Fireworks seized, 1 person charged after police called to Kitchener's Victoria Park on Canada Day

The City of Kitchener closed Victoria Park on Tuesday evening for reports of large groups gathering and setting off fireworks. Police say fireworks were seized from young people, tickets were given out for trespassing and one person was charged for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

WRPS asked the public to avoid Victoria Park due to fireworks being illegally fired off, amongst other disturbances on Canada Day.
