12 Western Mustangs track athletes join Canada's FISU summer games team

The national U Sports champion Western track and field team will provide 12 athletes to Canada’s 50-member athletics team for the FISU Summer World University Games in Bochum, Germany July 21-27.

National gold medalists Daxx Turner, Jordan Soufi, Dawson Mann and Lara Denbow, along with National Assistant Coach of the Year Gee-ef Nkwonta made the team.

Alec Purnell selected for Team Canada at 2025 FISU Summer World University Games - McMaster University Athletics

Purnell will accompany Team Canada to Bochum, Germany from July 16th-27th where he will race both the 800m and 1500m.
