- The confrontation began when Garrett asked Gama why he supported President Donald Trump, prompting a verbal argument about the hat.
- Garrett poured contents of a can on Gama and struck him on the back of the head and shoulder with the can, then attempted to flee by jumping a fence.
- Police restrained Garrett after she resisted arrest by locking her legs around an officer, causing an injury to his knee; she was booked without bond but released the following evening.
- Garrett has been charged with assaulting a person aged 65 or older, assaulting a police officer, and non-violent obstruction or resistance of an officer, with the case now submitted to the State Attorney’s office for prosecution.
