- Former President George W. Bush inaugurated a new art exhibit Thursday at his presidential library located on the Southern Methodist University campus in Dallas.
- After departing the White House in 2009, Bush and Laura settled in Dallas, and several years afterward, he began exploring oil painting, which inspired his recent creations.
- The exhibit features 35 paintings based on photos from the presidential center and campus, including one from the center's 2013 opening with all living former presidents posed.
- Teresa Lenling, the museum director, explained that the exhibit highlights not only various locations on and near the SMU campus but also focuses on the individuals who are central to the campus and surrounding community. Meanwhile, staff member Devon Yarbrough expressed surprise and delight upon recognizing herself depicted in one of the paintings.
- This fifth exhibit of Bush's art at the center draws on scenes close to home, reflecting life at the center and SMU, and it will remain on display through October 19.
