German Defense Minister: NATO Norm Percentage Not So Important
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius believes that his Foreign Minister colleague should not anticipate German defense spending. Johann Wadephul had said that he believes that NATO countries should free up 5 percent of their economy for defense. That is not his decision, Pistorius later emphasized. "The percentage is not so important. What is important is that the capability goals that NATO sets are achieved quickly, broadly and on time."
