Starting May Day 2025, the Badaling scenic area introduced an AI-powered exoskeleton device for rent that adjusts assistance on slopes, reducing strain and making climbing easier, especially for elderly visitors, according to Shen Bingtang.
These cultural and technological initiatives contribute to heritage preservation, increased tourism, and rural economic revitalization, while volunteers like Mei Lanfen sustain ongoing patrols to protect the Great Wall's steep and unopened areas.
