(CNN) — On the shores of the Baltic Sea it is taking shape – a giant piece of concrete – an immense marvel of engineering that, when completed, will drastically redraw Europe’s road and rail maps. The Fehmarnbelt tunnel may not have captured popular imagination in the same way that the Channel Tunnel between Britain and France – also known as Eurotunnel – did more than 30 years ago, but this structure is just as impressive, if not more.
