NY1 transit reporter Samantha Liebman got a rare opportunity to go inside the tunnel as the Amtrak's repairs are set to begin.

Amtrak is scheduled to start a multi-year repair project in the East River Tunnel on May 23, and the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), which uses the East River Tunnel, is reminding passengers to prepare for major difficulties in commuter service.
