iPhone could triple in price to $3,500 if they’re made in the US, analyst warns

For a period of three months, shipments exported from China to the United States will be subjected to a lowered tariff rate of 30%, reduced from the previous 145%.
This tariff reduction follows a period of roughly 30 to 40% decrease in shipment volumes from China amid concerns about US tariffs on Chinese imports.
Apple, which relies on China for about 90% of its iPhone production, announced a $500 billion investment over four years to expand manufacturing outside China.
Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed on the latest earnings call that most iPhones entering the US market are currently being sourced from India, and he noted that tariffs may increase Apple's expenses by $900 million in this quarter.
Analysts caution that producing iPhones domestically in the United States could increase their price to more than three times the approximately $1,000 they currently cost, due to expensive production and supply chain challenges.
