Lanaudière: Citizens Turn to the Courts to Oust Their Mayor

Exasperated by the actions of their mayor, the citizens of Sainte-Mélanie turned to the courts to have him declared "inhabile" to sit.

At a press conference held in front of the city hall of Sainte-Mélanie on 13 May, a group of citizens announced that they had taken action and filed a procedure in the Superior Court to ensure that Mayor Louis Freyd was deemed unfit to perform his duties.
