A Hungarian bishop has spoken out about Leo XIV after they served together in Peru for eight years - Antal Zserdin gave a candid interview about the new pope, whom he knew as Robert Francis Prevost.

After the election of Leo XIV, La Croix went to Peru, in the diocese of Chiclayo, where he was apostolic administrator and then bishop from 2014 to 2023. Known as a bishop close to people and endowed with a great sense of listening, the new pope managed to reform this diocese marked by a conservative sensitivity by taking with him priests and lay people.
