On Tuesday, unsubstantiated France tabled a bill to nationalize ArcelorMittal, a solution rejected by the Head of State on TF1. The Senate debated on Thursday a text to prohibit dismissals to companies that pay dividends or receive aid.

"The so-called safeguard clauses must be put in place, i.e. to protect the European market," the President of the Republic said.

On Tuesday 13 May 2025, Emmanuel Macron informed the employees of ArcelorMittal.
