Lithuania sanctions Bosnian Serb leader, his allies
- Lithuania sanctioned three Bosnian Serb officials, including Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, in late April 2025, barring their entry until April 2030.
- The sanctions followed Dodik's conviction for defying international envoy Christian Schmidt by passing laws blocking federal institutions in Republika Srpska.
- Dodik, Prime Minister Radovan Viakovi, and parliamentary speaker Nenad Stevandic also face international arrest warrants for unconstitutional attempts to secede from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry warned that these actions might undermine stability in the area and increase risks to the security of Europe, while several other EU and NATO members have implemented comparable sanctions.
- These coordinated sanctions aim to uphold Bosnia’s constitutional order and the Dayton Peace Agreement amid ongoing political tensions in the country.
