LR Congress: the Battle for Leadership Is Already on the Right for the Presidential Elections

DECRYPTAGE - While the campaign climate for the Republican presidency was marked by relative mutual respect, many within the LR party expect the gradual emergence of stronger tensions as 2027 approaches.

The approximately 122,000 Republican members will vote on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May 2025 to split Bruno Retailleau and Laurent Wauquiez. The new president will have to redefine what is meant and where the borders of the right stand, towards the centre as well as towards the far right.
