Man skateboarding 1,500 miles from UK to Africa

Sam Allison, 21, is undertaking a skateboarding journey from his hometown of Brighton all the way to Tangier to fundraise for the Ben Raemers Foundation, expecting the adventure to last between 50 and 60 days.
He embarked on this 1,500-mile journey after experiencing mental health challenges, motivated by witnessing a cross-country skateboarding trip and his own battle with difficult thoughts and emotional struggles.
Currently in Chartres, France, Allison travels about 30 miles daily with a friend, camping along the route and using a Santa Cruz Winkowski Deck skateboard.
Allison explained that while skateboarding, his complete concentration on staying balanced and avoiding falls left no room for other thoughts, which helped him manage stress and find calm in nature.
The trip aims to raise awareness and funds for the Ben Raemers Foundation, a mental health charity founded after professional skateboarder Ben Raemers died by suicide in 2019 at age 28.
