Memorial Day remembrance ceremony set for May 26

Gilmer’s annual public Memorial Day ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. On Monday, May 26, at the Gilmer Civic Center located on U.S. 271.
Organizers moved the event indoors last year due to multi-million dollar renovations at the usual Upshur County Courthouse lawn venue.
The ceremony will feature speaker Brig. Gen. Anthony D. Babcock and presentations by local veterans groups, including color guards and wreath laying.
Gilmer High School AFJROTC will present the colors, and a free fish fry will follow at the nearby Disabled American Veterans headquarters.
