Enforcement at 16 new speed cameras in Chicago to begin next week

As April gets underway, enforcement at 16 new speed cameras located in children's safety zones will begin starting next week, according to city officials.

Here's where 16 new speed cameras are being installed near Chicago schools and parks

Warning notices will be sent out starting Tuesday for those speeding near the new locations. Ticketing will begin on May 15. And more cameras are coming.

Although Mayor Brandon Johnson supported phasing out speed cameras on the campaign trail, 50 new cameras will be installed this year. Drivers going 6-10 mph over the limit will be fined $35, with tickets rising to $100 at 11 mph or greater.
