News We Love: Police comfort dog graduates from training

Bear, the inaugural comfort dog serving with the police force in Derry, New Hampshire, completed his training and was honored at a graduation event held in the town today.
The ceremony honored Bear, the department’s first comfort dog, and the officer responsible for his training, Erin Sullivan, recognizing their commitment and effort in completing an intensive program.
More than ten other service dogs from various New Hampshire law enforcement departments attended the event, which Governor Kelly Ayotte also joined to celebrate.
Governor Ayotte congratulated Bear and Sullivan for their "hard work and dedication" during training and their upcoming full-time service.
Bear will now support police officers and community members as the department’s first comfort dog, marking a new resource for emotional support in the region.
