Kenya: 2 Additional Suspects Arrested in Connection to Kasipul's MP Were's Murder
- On May 7, 2025, Kenya’s main criminal investigation agency publicly called on Philip Nahashon Aroko to turn himself in immediately in connection with the murder of Kasipul MP Charles Ong'ondo Were.
- The summons followed the April 30 killing near Nairobi's Valley Road and came after the victim's family and local leaders urged investigations into both executors and sponsors of the crime.
- Police have arrested four suspects, recovered two pistols, a bag, and footwear linked to the scene, and are conducting forensic ballistics on firearms suspected to be involved in multiple crimes.
- Aroko, described as a person of interest and represented by lawyer Danstan Omari, pledged full cooperation stating, “I have nothing to hide” and will comply with the DCI’s directive promptly.
- The investigation remains active with authorities promising thorough efforts to identify all parties involved, while the recovered evidence and arrests could unveil the network behind the MP’s assassination.
