Attempts to refloat tech tycoon Mike Lynch's superyacht from the seabed have been paused after the death of a “highly respected” salvage diver off the coast of northern Sicily.

An unconscious diver was discovered this Sunday morning in the harbour of Marseille, north of the island of Planier. Despite a cardio-pulmonary resuscitation of the crew of the accompanying boat, and the rapid intervention of the rescuers, he could not be revived.

Seven people died when the luxury yacht The Bayesian sank last year. Now a diver has died while working to raise the ship. Sensitive information may still be in the ship's safe.

After the death of a 39-year-old diver, there is no further work on the salvage. The yacht lies further off Sicily at a depth of about 50 meters. It is assumed that there was an accident.
