Pink Floyd in Pompeii, a famous feat in music history

A rejected directorial idea, a lost passport and divine silence. These three aspects were behind the making of a film of a concert by the British band Pink Floyd in an amphitheater in Pompeii, Italy, in 1971. There was no audience, just the band, the crew and a few children. Although other footage was shot elsewhere, it is one of the most famous projects in music history.

Tonight, we're moving half a century back and it'll be like a resurrected ceremony with Pink Floyd's famous Live at Pompii.

Along with The Beatles' performance on the rooftop of Abbey Road Studios, Pink Floyd's concert at the Roman theater in the Italian city of Pompeii in the early 1970s has become one of the most unusual concerts in history, as, in addition to its magical stage and psychedelic repertoire, it was performed without an audience. The concert is now being released, for the first time, in an expanded double format.
