- The Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Friday that Gene Lamont and Chris Truby will join their major league coaching staff in Philadelphia.
- This staff change followed the promotion of Don Kelly to manager last week, after Derek Shelton and game-planning coach Radley Haddad were fired.
- Lamont, 78, who managed the Pirates from 1997 to 2000, has returned to the organization to assist manager Don Kelly in an advisory capacity, while Truby, formerly the Triple-A Indianapolis manager, has been promoted to join the major league coaching staff.
- Mike Rabelo, the third base coach, will expand his bench role to assist Kelly with game planning and in-game strategy after Radley Haddad's departure.
- These additions bring over three decades of coaching experience to the Pirates and suggest enhanced support for Kelly during a seven-game homestand starting Monday at PNC Park.
