After the presidential election in Romania, European politicians congratulated the pro-European winner Dan. European Commission President von der Leyen wrote on Platform X that the Romanians had opted for the promise of an open, prosperous Romania in a strong Europe.

The mayor of Bucharest Nicusor Dan becomes the new president of Romania. The right-wing populist Simion, who wants to make a Kremlin friend the prime minister, admits his defeat after long hesitation.
