Gunmen kill 'at least 20' in mining village of Nigeria's Zamfara state

Gunmen have killed at least 20 people in an attack in a gold mining village in Nigeria's northwestern Zamfara state, residents and Amnesty International said.

The attack took place in Zamfara state, in the north-western part of the country, where criminal groups are operating, and the victims are minors and villagers trying to flee, according to Amnesty International.

Gunmen have killed at least 20 people in an attack in a gold mining village in Nigeria's northwestern Zamfara state, residents and Amnesty International said.

The perpetrators "went straight to the gold mine and killed 14 workers on the spot. Subsequently, even more bodies were found"

At least 26 people were killed on Thursday by armed men in the attack on an artisanal ordeal site in the state of Zamfara, in northwestern Nigeria, said Saturday Amnesty International.
