On May 17th, the Catholic Church celebrates 100 years of canonization of a woman who at first glance seemed inconspicuous – and yet became the patron of the world mission and church teacher. Today, Saturday, the canonization of Saint Therese of Lisieux is the 100th anniversary of her legacy, the "little way" of spiritual childhood.

May 17 marks the centenary of the canonization by Pope Pius XI of St. Therese of the Child Jesus – a Carmelite nun who died at the age of 24 and was later declared patron saint of missions and a doctor of the Church. Her spiritual path as a child of God inspires believers and non-believers, and her writings, “The Story of a Soul,” have been translated into over 50 languages and have sold over 500 million copies.
