LONGi launches 25% efficient heterojunction back contact (HBC) module and new residential solar brand "EcoLife"
- On May 7, 2025, LONGi launched the EcoLife series, a premium heterojunction back contact solar module, at Intersolar in Munich.
- LONGi developed the EcoLife series to address residential market demands by combining high efficiency, safety, and aesthetics using mass-produced HJT+BC cell technology.
- The initial 54-cell bifacial module delivers 27.3% cell efficiency, up to 510W power output, an ultra-low temperature coefficient of-0.24%/°C, and improved reliability through TaiRay wafers and full-surface passivation.
- The EcoLife series lowers surface temperatures by 28%, effectively minimizes hot spot formation, endures snow pressures up to 6000 Pascal and hurricane-level winds classified as Category 15, achieves a Class A fire safety rating, and comes with a 30-year warranty.
- LONGi plans to introduce additional versions of the EcoLife series later this year and make the product available across Europe by August, further strengthening its leadership in advanced solar technology and residential energy solutions.

New method to optimize bifacial PV system performance in residential applications
Scientists in Qatar have outlined a new approach to optimize residential bifacial PV systems by combining south-facing and vertically mounted east-facing configurations. The novel methodology reportedly results in a 21.6% increase in a system's net present value.A research team led by scientists from Qatar’s University of Doha for Science and Technology investigated the optimization of bifacial PV panels in a residential setting, focusing on max…
Solar canal pilot may one day help California achieve its ambitious climate, energy goals
As you drive through the Central Valley, it is hard to miss the iconic California Aqueduct, which moves millions of gallons of irrigation water through a large canal in the middle of the state. The canal is visible because it’s open on top — a fact that also allows a sizable percent of the water to evaporate, as the region now faces increasingly high temperatures for much of the year.A few years ago, scientists began asking: What if we covered t…
