Stocker to 70 Years of State Treaty: "Freedom Is Never given."

On the occasion of the ceremony in the Belvedere Palace Park, the Federal Chancellor warns against the rise of "authoritarian systems and dictatorships", as well as "populism, polarization and disinformation."

The celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the Austrian State Treaty began with a ceremony in the Parliament. Members of the National Council Bureau recalled the historical significance of the Treaty and emphasized the relevance of permanent neutrality in the present.

Exactly 70 years ago, the State Treaty was signed. On the occasion of the anniversary, the leaders of the Republic met on Thursday for a ceremony in the Parliament. The members of the National Council Bureau emphasized the role of permanent neutrality for Austria.

Austria's state treaty is the basis of our state sovereignty. In collective consciousness, its contents are hardly anchored, but neutrality is all the stronger, explains political scientist Laurenz Ennser-Einnastik.
