Stellantis Delays Electrified Pickups at Sterling Heights Assembly
- Stellantis has postponed the launch of the Ramcharger hybrid to the first quarter of 2026, while the fully electric Ram 1500 REV is now expected to arrive at dealerships by the summer of 2027 in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
- The delays result from extended quality validation needed for the Ramcharger and market-driven slowing consumer demand for half-ton electric pickups.
- The Ramcharger offers a plug-in hybrid drivetrain with a 92kWh battery and 3.6-liter engine for range extension, while the REV is a fully electric model with a 168kWh battery and dual-motor AWD.
- The Ram 1500 REV's original launch was postponed from 2024 to 2025 and now to 2027, with the long-range 500-mile battery variant cancelled, leaving only the standard-range model.
- These delays postpone availability by up to two years, reflecting cautious adaptation by Stellantis due to evolving technology, customer expectations, and weaker-than-expected full-size electric truck demand.

Ram postpones electric 1500 REV and Ramcharger (again)
We hate to sound like a broken record, but after having told you the all-electric Ram 1500 REV and the extended-range Ramcharger pickup wouldn’t go on sale in 2024 as originally planned, but would see their launch pushed to 2025; and then again that it would be delayed until 2026 — well, now it looks like it could appear in 2027, potentially badged as a 2028 model.
