NC elections director fired as new GOP majority takes control calling for 'trust in the election system'

Republican state lawmakers succeeded last week in their nearly decade-long quest to wrest control of the elections board away from the governor's office and to give themselves power over the board. Their first act will be to fire elections director Karen Brinson Bell, a Roy Cooper appointee.
