In the Peasant War a new concept of freedom was developed on a religious basis The defeat of the insurgents led by Thomas Müntzer in the Battle of Frankenhausen on 15 May 1525 marked the end of the Peasant War. However, Müntzer's apocalyptic was minoritarian in the movement, in south-west Germany the peasants demanded the restriction of feudal rights and propagated a new concept of freedom. Jörn Schulz
