Grinnell residents picking up the pieces after possible EF-2 tornado sweeps through town
On Sunday, a tornado took out the west side of Grinnell, a northwest Kansas town of about 250 people, with homes being destroyed, some being completely ripped off of their foundation, trees stripped and uprooted, and cars being smashed.
Destructive tornados reported in Kansas, surrounding states
Two small Kansas towns took direct hits from large, destructive tornadoes on May 18. Grinnell in the northwest part of the state was hit during the early evening hours, and Plevna in central Kansas, had about the same fate at nearly midnight. Preliminary reports from the National Weather Service are calling the Grinnell tornado an EF2 and reports have yet to come back for the Plevna storm.
