Casper van Uden claimed his maiden Grand Tour victory in a sprint finish to stage four of the Giro d'Italia to top an all-Dutch podium in Lecce, with Ireland's Sam Bennett crossing the line in sixth for Decathlon–AG2R La Mondiale.

Not Olav Kooij, but Casper van Uden has provided the first Dutch stage success in the Giro d’Italia. The sprinter from Picnic PostNL was the fastest in Lecce, where there was an all-Dutch podium. Mads Pedersen retains the pink jersey.
