Robert Francis Prevost, who became a high pontiff after the death of Francis, chose the name Leo XIV. It was not a mere historical reference, but probably a gesture full of meaning, as it directly refers to Leo XIII, one of the most influential popes of the 19th century and author of the Encyclical Rerum Novarum.
