Valtteri Bottas gets Mercedes test outing in fastest-ever F1 car

Valtteri Bottas (35) has lost his permanent seat in Formula 1 since this season. The Finn is still a reserve driver at Mercedes, the team where he drove for years alongside seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. But now that Bottas is back at the team, he also seems to have lost some freedoms.

Valteri Bottas returned to his 2020 Mercedes F1 on the Paul Ricard circuit this weekend. After failing to get a full-time steering wheel at Sauber for 2025, Bottas returned to Mercedes as a test and reserve driver. Bottas was already on track earlier this year, driving for McLaren on his MCL60 from 2023 onwards.
