Hamilton Reports Lower Than Average Watermain Breaks in 2024
The City of Hamilton says it responded to 165 watermain breaks in 2024, down from 188 in 2023, and well below the five-year average of 222 annual breaks. Nearly all the breaks were caused by ground movements, such as freeze/thaw cycles, with the age of infrastructure a contributing factor.
